So you’re curious about how AI is used in Rask? We use advanced technology to make financial advice more accessible and accurate, but we always keep a “human in the loop.”
Our AI philosophy
At Rask, AI is a co-pilot, not the pilot. It helps our team process data faster and identify opportunities, but every piece of formal advice (like a Statement of Advice) is reviewed by a qualified human adviser.
Where you’ll see AI in action
- Data Summaries: AI helps turn your bank transactions and form inputs into a clear “financial story” for your adviser to review.
- Strategy Drafting: Our AI models help draft initial strategy options based on your goals, which your adviser then refines.
- Document Analysis: When you upload a statement, AI helps extract the key numbers so you don’t have to type them in manually.
Strategy development
Our advice team can use a staff-only Strategy notebook to investigate ideas before preparing the paraplanning request form (PPRF). Each question uses the saved notebook and searches published Rask strategy guidance. Staff may also choose saved advice-tool results and meeting transcripts. Saved non-medical forms are available automatically: Fact Find, Investment Preferences, Risk Profile and staff-visible goals.
On desktop, Rask AI and sources sit beside a page-style document. Use the fixed formatting toolbar to change headings, font, size, alignment and spacing; zoom changes your view. The notebook saves automatically after a pause and Preview shows the document without editing controls. Selecting Ask also saves the latest document before sending your question, including when starting a new document. If saving fails, your document and question stay in place so you can retry.
Select text and choose Add comment (or press Ctrl/Cmd+Alt+M) to leave a comment in the margin. Authorised staff can resolve and reopen comments; authors can delete their own comments. Comments are saved separately and are not sent to AI as notebook content. Review an AI response before inserting it; an unchanged passage discussed with AI can also be replaced explicitly.
Staff can reply to comments. New comments notify the client’s assigned advisers; replies notify other participants in that thread. Notifications appear in the notification bell and open the comment. Staff can turn these alerts on or off with Document comments and replies in their notification settings. Older comments and replies can be loaded from the document’s comment panel.
On mobile and tablet screens, selecting Rask AI brings the chat into view. Select Back to document to return to the notebook; your question draft stays in the chat while you move between them.
Select Flash to choose Low, Medium or High reasoning before asking a question. The button shows your choice, such as Flash - Medium. Low prioritises speed, Medium balances speed and analysis, and High allows more analysis for complex questions. The information icon beside Rask AI explains the model and reasoning choices. Your selected level applies to the next answer and its evidence check, and appears beside the saved response.
Type @ in the question and choose a source to add a highlighted reference within your prompt, for example, “Look in @[Fact Find] to find the client’s age.” You can keep writing around it. Questions can include paragraphs and up to 12,000 characters; longer drafts stay in the composer so you can shorten them. Deleting or editing the reference removes that explicit source selection. Current Forms provide recorded facts and budget figures. Depending on the question, Rask AI uses the relevant financial summary or recorded answers, including personal details, employment and estate planning. Medical History is excluded.
Ask about current portfolio holdings without saving a planning report first—for example, “How much VAS does the client hold?” Answers use the latest saved portfolio snapshots and recorded ownership, including Navexa portfolios. Check the snapshot date and any unassigned ownership. A connection name is separate from the broker. Monthly spending questions use the current Forms budget unless you select a saved cashflow scenario; weekly and other frequencies are converted to monthly equivalents. Calculated totals retain their currency and source date. Missing amounts, frequencies or ownership are flagged for review rather than treated as zero. If you ask about actual spending, specify a month; the answer covers eligible recorded transactions and may not include every account.
Type @ to find approved saved forms, tables and charts. Saved artefacts retain their source run. Use the preview action to review the original table or chart before inserting it. Inside the document, type / to find the same registered artefacts; /files opens the file and public-link reference picker. Insertions remain snapshots and do not change the underlying forms, ownership or calculations.
Answers link to the evidence used and are drafts for staff to review. Authorised staff can open the information icon below an answer to see links to its source forms, documents and guidance. Responses show headings, emphasis, lists and tables as readable text. Insert into document previews the same formatting and retains it in the notebook, including when replacing a discussed passage. Wide comparison tables scroll sideways in the chat and keep their rows and columns when inserted into the document.
Authorised staff working on the client file can return to these discussions and contribute, with the author of each contribution retained. The notebook does not automatically change forms, calculations, the PPRF or the Statement of Advice. Strategy, SOA and RetireMap chats do not accept file uploads, vault-file attachments or public link attachments. Medical History forms and medical fields are excluded. Do not paste medical information into a question. Ordinary client-file storage and document reference links remain separate from AI chat.
While an answer is being prepared, the chat shows its current step and elapsed time. Open Activity to see the steps completed so far. Draft answers are not shown before their checks finish.
When no RetireMap client is linked, choose Create or link client. Search by name or email, or leave the search blank to browse. You can also add a new client from the reviewed Rask profile details. Existing matches and missing required details must be resolved before creation. Confirm the client and optional plan, then choose Import reports, View client data, or sign in to your own RetireMap account for Rask AI. Importing reports and viewing client data do not require an AI connection. Use Use a RetireMap ID if you already know the client’s identifier. Linking connects the two records; it does not copy over or overwrite either system’s form data. Creating a record does not send a client invitation. Use Change plan to return to setup; other workspace commands are in its menu.
After changing plan inputs or strategies, choose Regenerate plan beside the plan title, review the selected plan and confirm. A plan that needs regeneration also offers this action when you finish linking it. You can ask Rask AI to “Regenerate this plan” and review its proposed action. Rask confirms completion from RetireMap’s saved status. If the result is uncertain, check its status instead of starting another regeneration. Retrieve fresh reports afterwards; previously saved reports remain fixed snapshots.
To import an existing plan’s reports, select the reports and confirm the dollar basis in Retrieve reports. Imported snapshots appear as Needs review. Open a report, compare it with RetireMap, and accept it for the client file. Choose the chart’s series, colours, period, title and footnote, then select Save view for SOA to retain that presentation for insertion.
In RetireMap chat, press Enter to send or Shift+Enter for a new line. Your question moves into the conversation immediately. If it fails, use Retry question; the original question and selected forms are retained. The composer remains at the bottom of the visible workspace while the conversation scrolls above it. Chat commands are in the chat menu; changing tabs keeps your unsent draft. The information icon below each message contains its details and sources. The RetireMap logo shows the staff AI connection state: colour means connected and grey means sign-in is needed. Select the grey logo to sign in; select the connected logo to review the client link. Connecting your staff account does not automatically choose a client. The information icon beside the composer explains its medical-information and file restrictions.
In Reports, open a saved report and choose Series to toggle any table column. Choose Line or Columns separately for each series, including baseline and alternative values, so both styles can appear together. You can also focus on the first or last ten periods. Data keeps the complete table, including values outside the displayed chart window. Comparison charts let you show or hide either scenario. Missing values remain gaps, not zero. The information icon beside the chart title shows the displayed series’ start and end values, the plan and retrieval details, and the number of periods. These details also remain in downloaded images.
To add your own projections, choose Add manual series on a chat chart or in the Reports chart builder. Name the series, then enter amounts or paste one spreadsheet column into the first relevant period. Blank cells stay empty. Use Series to choose the new series’ colour and line or column style. Save to client SOA creates a new chart in Reports and makes it available through /retiremap-chart. Staff see a Manual forecast label; that internal label is not added to the client-facing chart. Source reports and RetireMap plan inputs remain unchanged.
Use PNG or SVG to download the displayed chart with its dollar basis and source details. PNG is suitable for sharing; SVG keeps its detail when resized. Accept a reviewed report before inserting its fixed charts and tables through the SOA Artefact library. Live chat charts can also be downloaded, but do not become accepted SOA evidence. Inserting a new report never changes older document snapshots automatically.
The RetireMap Data tab shows inputs read directly from the linked RetireMap client and selected plan. Search or filter the grouped table to review the values. Profile and partner fields with a supported Rask mapping can be compared side by side; Not mapped does not mean a value is missing. Reports contains modelling outputs separately. Select a linked RetireMap value to open the corresponding client record or selected plan in a new tab and double-check it. These links open the full record; they do not jump to an individual field.
Select Edit client details to draft supported contact or person changes, then Review changes to check the exact before and after values. Nothing is sent until you select Save in RetireMap. Success appears only after a fresh read confirms the saved values. Saving does not update the Rask client file. If a client-detail save needs verification, use Check saved changes instead of repeating it. These saves use the platform’s REST connection.
Supported plan inputs have an edit pencil. Enter the new value, choose Review change, check the current and proposed values, then Approve and apply. These changes use your staff RetireMap connection and do not need an AI chat. Check the returned value before confirming the verified result. If interrupted, choose Review saved plan change, then Check saved value; the write is not resent. Fields without a supported update stay read-only. Reports may need regeneration after a plan change.
Before Strategy AI processing, client names, residential/postal street addresses, phone numbers and email addresses are replaced with placeholders. Dependant names and identifying entity names also follow the shared privacy rules. Birth dates are represented by month and year; exact dates remain in the authorised client records. Legal types and financial information remain available for analysis. This reduces direct identifiers; it does not make the client information anonymous.
To ask about a meeting, select its transcript with @ and confirm processing. Transcript questions use Flash in Sydney and the latest saved correction. Transcripts and other free text may contain sensitive statements, so check the selected content before sending it. Questions can combine a transcript with saved form answers, and answers link back to their sources.
Safety and privacy
- No Public Models: Your data is never used to train public AI models (like the free version of ChatGPT).
- Encryption: All data processed by our AI services is encrypted to the same standard as our main database.
- Australian Context: Our AI is specifically tuned for the Australian financial and tax system.
Limits of AI
AI can make mistakes (sometimes called “hallucinations”). This is why:
- You should always verify the numbers in your Living Profile.
- You should never act on an AI-generated summary without reading the final, human-signed Statement of Advice.
Next steps
Rask AI in an SOA
The SOA workspace uses the same chat and document tools as Strategy. Ask on the left, work in the document in the centre, and use Comments to show the thread on the right. Comments support replies and resolving/reopening. Comment notifications appear in the bell and use Document comments and replies in your notification settings.
Ask can use the current client’s saved forms, holdings, cashflow calculations and saved artefacts. Use @ to select an approved source. Files cannot be attached to the chat. Use / in the document for the existing keys and artefact menu.
Proofread, Logic and Compliance remain separate checks against a saved SOA. Select a finding to highlight its passage. Suggested wording can only replace an unchanged, editable passage. Wording and research keeps the earlier private SOA questions, selected-text wording tools and optional official-source research available. Staff must review all answers and findings before using them.
Practice defaults in RetireMap
An administrator can review defaults under Admin settings → Advice AI. Saving a draft does not activate it. Review and approve activates a version for future proposals; Disable approved defaults stops using it.
The action review lists applied defaults before anything is saved. Saved expense lines are calculated on the server. A retirement spending goal replaces ordinary spending for the confirmed years, with travel kept separate. Incomplete goals can remain labelled ideas without invented spending. A term deposit can be modelled at its recorded continuing rate in a matching bank account; this is a modelling assumption, not an actual maturity transaction. Fund fees left to RetireMap must be checked in the returned record. New REST baselines apply and verify the selected year basis; chat-created plans still inherit RetireMap’s practice setting.
